January President Message - Will Robalino

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Looking back, 2011 ended strong for ALPFA; we had two chapters achieve the 1,000 membership mark: congratulations to Chicago and Miami!  Who’s next for 2012?  Nationally, we broke the 18,000 member mark; the 2011 convention was the largest ever with 2,600 people in attendance, and Nationals kicked off our latest venture, the ALPFA Institute, that serves as the ALPFA think tank in advisory, consulting and research.  Locally, NY became the largest chapter, ending 2011 with 2,500 members, and was recognized as Northeast Chapter of the year at the National Convention.  Looking forward at 2012, one of our main goals is to get to 3,000+ members, and I look toward our current members to help in that endeavor by spreading the word. ALPFA Story: -Gaining a New Career Opportunity by John Liz

Hello my name is John M. Liz. My career started at PwC right out of school and was introduce to this organization called ALPFA. At first I thought it was a professional fraternity but then I realize what the acronym stood for. I did my research before I join and came across nothing but positive news about ALPFA.

After signing up as professional member I was invited to my first ALPFA Convention which took place in Miami, Florida. This is where I saw ALPFA’s true value. I attend various workshops about ethics, financial product based training and etc and I was hooked. It felt good to be around individuals like myself with diverse backgrounds coming together to better themselves and share knowledge with progressive students. (Read More)     (

December President Message - Will Robalino

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and spent a wonderful time with their families. I had a lot to be thankful for, in summary of what I posted on my facebook page: Family, Work and ALPFA. I ended last month’s letter asking everyone to help ALPFA NY reach our goal of 3,000 plus members before the convention date. I hope everyone takes that to heart and helps us achieve our goals. All I ask is that everyone commit to recruiting one new member. We have all the memberships benefits in our Blog Page (http://www.alpfanewyork.wordpress.com). We will start to actively report on events and new initiatives via our blog; please bookmark it. Help ALPFA NY, help Latinos learn about ALPFA, so that we in turn can help them with their professional goals. There is strength in numbers and I know that working together we can achieve that which we set our minds to achieve. (Read More)

November President Message - Will Robalino

If October is any indication of what ALPFA NY will do this year, I’m excited. It was a jam packed month, certainly one of the heaviest program month’s I’ve seen in my two years with ALPFA. At one of our events, a young professional asked me, “Why did you join ALPFA over one of the other Latino organizations?” I thought about the question and said; this is the broadest and largest Latino organization, with 39 chapters and over 17,000 members with the most potential for helping the most Latinos. The stats were easy to state but I could tell the person was not satisfied. I then said, you see this pin, it’s a lifetime membership pin, UBS, as part of our partnership with ALPFA sponsors my annual membership but not for a life time membership. I paid for a lifetime membership when I did not have to, why? Because, I believe in what ALPFA is doing for Latinos and I want to show my commitment to the organization. I do not just say it’s the best Latino organization because it’s the correct thing to say, I say it, because I believe it. That brought a smile and satisfaction. I just hope that young professional considers joining ALPFA.  (Read More)

Ocotber President Message - Will Robalino

October 1, 2011 marked the start of a new fiscal year for ALPFA. I am humbled and excited to accept the role of President for our ALPFA NY chapter. I’d like to thank Juan Cruz for his tremendous leadership this past year which ends as one of the most successful years in ALPFA NY’s history: the chapter reclaimed the title of the largest chapter in the country and was recognized as North Region Chapter of the Year at this year’s ALPFA Convention. I’d also like to thank Theresa Torres for her service as past president; her advice at critical points in the year, helping our chapter achieve greatness was immeasurable in how valuable it was. Forming a Corporate Advisory Board will be our first order of business this year and I’m pleased to announce that Theresa has accepted the chair position on our board which we hope to form this month. Why you should join ALPFA on NY Cares Day

On October 15, we’ll be painting colorful murals, adding bright new line games to playgrounds, organizing school libraries, planting flowers, and more to create inspiring learning environments. The work our team will do on New York Cares Day benefits everyone in the community. And our work doesn’t have to stop then – New York Cares creates volunteer programs for 1,000 nonprofit agencies and schools every day of the year, building better lives for 400,000 struggling New Yorkers.
